Many women come to us asking about private uterine fibroid removal. Depending on your circumstances and review of your medical records we can assist in arranging this surgery in a timely manner at a private surgical facility in the USA or Canada. We usually ask our clients to have a recent (within the last 6 months) ultrasound or MRI of the uterus. The diagnostics provide more information on the location and size of the fibroid(s).
Uterine fibroids can be small, less than 1 cm to 5 cm, medium, 5 cm to 10 cm, or large, over 10 cm. They can be on the outside of the uterus, inside the muscles of the uterus or in the uterine cavity. They can cause complications like excessive bleeding and reproductive problems. They are benign, or noncancerous. Depending on the size it is sometimes not possible to remove them laparoscopically.
For smaller fibroids inside the uterine cavity, your surgeon may recommend a hysteroscopic myomectomy. It’s the most minimally invasive procedure to treat fibroids. The fibroids are accessed and removed using instruments inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus.
For bigger fibroids inside the muscles or outside the uterus, a laparoscopic myomectomy may be offered. For large fibroids, an open or abdominal myomectomy can be recommended. Both of these are surgeries and are done under general anesthesia.
